The same company produces GO! dry food of the same name, which has proven itself to be quite high-quality products, as well as NOW Fresh and Summit dry food.

What is so unique about this product? The point is that a separate recipe was developed for the Russian and European markets.

Go Cat Food Review!

Dry and wet cat food Go!
(“Go”) are manufactured in Canada by Petcurean Pet Nutrition. The official website is where you can find information about ingredients, feeding rates, etc. (in English). Go food is holistic. The Go brand also produces dog food. Petcurean Pet Nutrition also produces Now Fresh, Summit, and Gather dog and cat food.

Go food composition

Let's study the composition of Go cat food using the example of the “SENSITIVITY + SHINE, Duck Recipe for Cats” option (with duck, for kittens and cats). You can see it in the image below (click on it to enlarge for easier reading):

Above is a photo of the composition from the packaging (original on the left, Russian translation on the right). Below is a screenshot from the official website.

The first ingredients are meat, but the translation into Russian is not correct. De-boned duck is boneless duck, not fresh duck fillet (although the concept is the same). Duck meal is duck meal, not “dehydrated duck meat” (the meal may include some skin, tendons and bones instead of just meat, if the meal is made from mechanically separated meat). But that's not scary either. These two ingredients, along with whole dried eggs, are a source of animal protein.

It is interesting that the information on the packaging and on the website slightly differ in the indicators of some substances (protein, Omega acids, etc.). Probably because in the first case the minimum and minimum values are indicated (there are min and max in parentheses), while in the second they are exact.

From fourth to eighth place are the sources of carbohydrates - peas, pea flour, tapioca, lentils and chickpeas (checkpeas in the original). Although chickpeas and lentils also contain a lot (about 20% and 10%, respectively, of the total ingredient volume) of vegetable protein.

Chicken fat is a source of saturated fatty acids. The original description of the composition clarifies that it is preserved with tocopherols (natural preservatives, a source of vitamin E). Also at the very end there is another preservative (also natural) - dried rosemary.

We also need about, which is not specified. The remaining ingredients are various additives designed to enrich the food with certain beneficial substances.

Advantages and disadvantages

Among the advantages of Gou food:

  • meat ingredients are the source of protein;
  • grain-free composition (no wheat, corn or other grains);
  • natural preservatives and flavors;
  • high content of vitamins, minerals and other beneficial substances;
  • Widely distributed and available in most pet stores.

Among the disadvantages:

  • the percentage of main ingredients is not indicated;
  • high price (comparable to analogues).

Advantages and disadvantages of Go food

PETCUREAN Pet Nutrition produces all its food for feeding both young animals and adults. She explains this position by the fact that in natural conditions there is no division of food for different ages of predators. Because of this feature, dry food granules are quite small and not everyone likes them.

The difference between Go food and other brands produced by the same manufacturer

All PETCUREAN products belong to the highest class of animal feed. However, they have some differences in manufacturing strategy. When comparing Go! With other brands you can find the following differences:

  1. NOW! offers a range for different ages of cats: kittens, adults (two flavors) and seniors. A special feature of this brand’s food formula is the inclusion of essential polyunsaturated acids DHA and EPA (classified as Omega-3 fatty acids), which affect brain and vision function and promote weight loss.
  2. Summit with three types of meat - this brand produces only one type of food, which belongs to the super premium class. The food is intended for pets of all ages, it is not grain-free and contains brown rice and oatmeal. Its price is lower than Go! (1.8 kg - about 830 rubles).
  3. Gather introduces one chicken flavored food. The peculiarity of this brand is the use of only organic ingredients, that is, grown without any chemical fertilizers, growth stimulants and other synthetic substances used in agriculture. Everything is only natural and environmentally friendly. The cost of such products is significantly higher than the market average. Therefore, the price of the food is higher than Go!: packaging 3.63 kg - from 3250 rubles.

Canadian line of canned food GO!

But in Russia, GO canned food is represented by only 3 flavor variations:

  • with turkey;
  • with Chiken;
  • chicken stew with turkey and duck.

Canned food GO!
presented on the Russian and European markets. All with a concise composition and even incomplete guaranteed analysis. Since there are no canned food at all on the Russian version of the Petcurean website, the buyer who is attentive and caring towards his pet finds himself in a somewhat delicate position. Yes, and it’s a bit of a shame, you’ll agree - the Canadians on their website not only have a wider assortment and a full guaranteed analysis, but also a complete list of nutrients contained in the food, but we are asked to choose food “at random”.

Why is there such global injustice? The fact is that the manufacturer of canned food has not passed the certification of Rosselkhoznadzor - it is not known whether it passed it at all or whether there were any violations, this is not particularly important. Therefore, Canadians have developed separate recipes for wet food for Europe and Russia, which are produced at a European plant that has successfully passed the certification of Rosselkhoznadzor. We will consider them today.
