Sheba cat food: reviews, composition, manufacturer. Canned food for cats

Advantages and disadvantages

wet food does not contain enough beneficial elements that the animal's body needs. This is important to consider when choosing a menu for your pet. As the main diet, you should choose dry food, which contains a higher percentage of useful microelements.

The main advantages of ready-made food for Sheba cats include:

  • affordable cost in comparison with other ready-made diets that belong to the premium class;
  • an extensive assortment that allows you to choose the most suitable taste for your pet and the appropriate release form;
  • absence of preservatives in the composition;
  • convenient release form;
  • soy products and grains are not used in the production process;
  • produced wet food allows owners not to control the amount of water their pet drinks;
  • the ability to purchase a ready-made diet in any supermarket or pet store.

The main disadvantage of this brand of food is the composition shown on the packaging, which is quite vague. Unfortunately, the manufacturer did not consider it necessary to display all types and parts of meat that are used in the production process. It is likely that the preparation of the finished diet involves processed meat and a large amount of by-products that will not harm the pet.

However, in order for the fluffy purr to have the opportunity to grow and develop normally, it requires a sufficient amount of high-quality meat in the daily menu.

Disadvantages also include:

  • lack of a special line (for obese cats, spayed/neutered pets, animals suffering from urolithiasis);
  • impossibility of using food as a complete diet;
  • impossibility of feeding cats under 12 months of age.

Composition of Sheba cat food

For analysis, we chose one of the most popular flavors - a bag from the Pleasure series with chicken and duck. Studying the composition presented on the packaging, we saw the following - each sachet contains:

Meat and offal, duck (4%), chicken (4%), as well as taurine, and as additional ingredients - vitamins and minerals.

That's the whole lineup. To be honest, it’s quite meager even for the premium class, not to mention the super-premium segment for which this food claims. The manufacturer does not hide the fact that duck and chicken, which are stated in the name, are only 4% each, that is, 4 grams per 100 grams of the product. In one pouch, respectively, there are 3.2 grams. Sounds like a joke, doesn't it?

Also on the pack there is information about the guaranteed composition:

  • Proteins - 11 g/100 g (small figure)
  • Fats - 3 g/100 g (less than normal)
  • Ash - 2 g/100 g (normal value)
  • Fiber - 0.3 g/100 g (significantly less than normal)
  • Moisture - 82 g/100 g (significant amount).
  • The energy value of the feed is 75 kcal/100g.

The feed contains 82% moisture and only 18% nutrients. Although reviews from veterinarians about Sheba cat food highlight the water aspect as a plus of this food.

Protein

Meat and offal are indicated as a source of proteins in the composition, but neither the mass nor the percentage is given - this is a defect. In addition, there is no information about the quality of the by-products, as well as their origin. Such a vague formulation often hides low-grade connective tissue, skin, cartilage and other raw materials that are no longer used in any production due to low quality. This is also a minus for food. Well, we have already mentioned the content of the main (according to advertising) ingredients above.

Fat

The source of fat in the feed is unclear and is likely to come from cheap, low quality animal fats. We draw this conclusion based on obvious logic: if the composition contained high-quality fatty components, the manufacturer would not fail to say so, earning additional points to his account.

Carbohydrates

There is no mention on the package of carbohydrates, which are most often added in the form of corn or wheat. We don't know if this food contains grains, but the lack of any information on this is considered a huge disadvantage that prevents Sheba cat food from receiving excellent reviews.

Additional components

Taurine is a very useful supplement. The cat’s body does not produce it, unlike dogs, however, it urgently needs it. This component is a definite plus for the feed.

Vitamins and minerals are a very vague formulation. Most likely, this means a basic premix containing a minimum set of essential microelements and vitamins.

That's all there is to know about this food. Thus, we conclude that the pieces that are in the bag are not meat at all, but formed, at best, from minced meat. We also did not find a word about the composition of the sauce - this remains a mystery, shrouded in darkness. As for the additional components, everything is completely bad: there are no vegetables, no fruits, no herbs. In other words, nothing that could be beneficial for your pet’s body.

But there is also a plus: the manufacturer claims that Sheba food contains no preservatives, soy, or artificial flavor enhancers or dyes. It seems that they are not on the list of ingredients, but according to some reviews about Sheba, the food has a rather pronounced smell. This means that it most likely contains some kind of additive that enhances the smell - so that animals are more willing to eat the food. Let's leave this point to the conscience of the manufacturer.

With all of the above, the price of Sheba cat food is quite significant: with the nutritional norm according to the instructions, a 5-kilogram animal will eat 2-3 bags per day. This is definitely more expensive than natural food, and also exceeds the cost of many dry food in the super-premium segment.

Reviews from veterinarians

Veterinary experts unanimously say that Sheba’s ready-made diet is not suitable for daily feeding. What class does this food belong to?
The manufacturer claims that this brand belongs to the premium class. However, the dubious composition, which the manufacturer for some reason has not yet deciphered, causes mistrust. Very often, animal owners who fed their cats Sheba food contacted veterinary clinics. Their animals suffered from pathologies of the digestive tract and urinary tract. Most likely, such diseases were caused by poor diet. Sheba does not contain a sufficient amount of useful elements that are required for normal development of the animal.

About the brand

The Sheba brand was founded in 1985. Probably its name is a reference to the ancient state of Saba or Sabea, which at one time was ruled by the legendary Queen of Sheba, who is called “Queen of Sheba” in English. The owner of the trademark proclaimed the symbol of the Sheba brand to be a cat of the Russian Blue breed, which represents the brand in all commercials, is depicted on food packaging, and also became the star of creative advertising - “Sheba”! Karaoke cat - five reasons."

The manufacturer claims that Sheba wet food contains only the highest quality ingredients, without soy, flavor enhancers, and other artificial additives, and is developed jointly by leading nutritionists and veterinarians at the Waltham Pet Nutrition Research Institute.

Varieties

Is there dry?

The manufacturer does not produce this food in dry form.
Although the Sheba treat is a premium food, it is still of worse quality than Gourmet, which is in the same class, and is more reminiscent of Whiskas or Kitiket. The manufacturer does not produce products in dry form, but specializes only in the production of canned food. Therefore, owners will not find the Sheba product in granule form. There are also no separate lines for sterilized cats or pets suffering from stones in the urinary organs and impaired intestinal function, so it is better not to give such food to such animals.

Canned food is the main type of product

Sheba cat food is available in the form of canned food, which is packaged in jars or bags. It is possible to purchase the cat product in small quantities (50 grams), which is presented by Sheba “Mini”. The table shows the entire product line, differing in composition:

Specifics

Considering such a feature as the absence of medicinal food in the Sheba line, it is highly not recommended to give it to sick or sterilized (castrated) cats, and it is also not suitable for kittens under one month of age. Due to the fact that “Sheba” contains a number of ingredients that support the condition of the pet’s coat, veterinarians recommend giving it as a daily treat to cats from the long-haired, Neva masquerade, Persian and chinchilla breeds.

A significant percentage of meat in canned food will be very useful for large cats of the Savannah, Serval, Maine Coon, and Caracal breeds. Thanks to the food, they will remain active longer throughout the day. Sami can become part of the diet of a cat of any breed: from the snowshoe and jungle cat to the bengal.

As mentioned earlier in the article, this cat food is not exactly a cheap product. Nevertheless, any person who is sensitive to their pet fluffy, first of all, chooses healthy and tasty foods for their pet, sparing neither money nor time in searching for treats. Many cat owners are guided by the physical reaction of their pets when choosing food, paying attention to how the cat’s body tolerates food and whether there are any problems with the gastrointestinal tract.

After studying reviews from veterinarians, it becomes clear what is needed to determine whether a given food is suitable for a cat or not. First you need to observe the behavior of the animal. If the pet is active, playful and in a pleasant mood, then everything is fine.
