Pharmacokinetic studies have shown that Prazitel suspension is absorbed into the blood in small quantities (max pyrantel pamoate - 0.19%, max prazitel_susp_catziquantel - 0.1%) and is eliminated almost completely within 24 hours.

The medicine is approved for use in the treatment of helminthiasis in cats for medical reasons. To do this, laboratory tests are carried out and the pathogen is identified.
Prazitel tablets and suspension are used for the following helminthic infestations:
- toxocariasis;
- toxascariasis;
- uncinariasis;
- echinococcosis;
- hookworm;
- dipylidiasis;
- trichocephalosis;
- taeniasis;
- diphyllobothriasis;
- mesocestoidosis.
Prazitel helps cure helminthiases that are caused by round (nematodes) and tape (cestodes) parasitic worms. The drug is effective for combined nematodestodes infestations. Its components have a detrimental effect on helminths at different stages of development (eggs, larvae and adults - adults).

DOSAGE AND METHOD OF APPLICATION:
Prazitel suspension is administered orally to cats and kittens in the following doses: 1 ml of suspension per 1 kg of animal weight.
For preventive purposes, it is used for cats - once every 3 months, for kittens from 3 weeks of age.
The drug is prescribed to pregnant cats in the second half of pregnancy and to lactating cats 3 weeks after birth with caution under the supervision of a veterinarian.
Be sure to prescribe the drug to animals before vaccination.
Prazitel suspension is given to animals individually, once directly on the root of the tongue in the cheek area from a dispenser syringe or with food.
It is possible to administer a dose of the drug in portions.
No preliminary fasting diet or use of laxatives is required.
With a high degree of infestation, deworming is repeated after 10 days. Before use, the bottle with the suspension should be shaken vigorously for 1-2 minutes until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
For ease of shaking the suspension, the bottle is filled to no more than 2/3 of the total volume.
Operating principle
Praziquantel and pyrantel inhibit fumarate reductase (a parasite enzyme), which is involved in the transmission of nerve impulses to muscles. Due to depolarization of muscle cells, static paralysis of the helminth occurs, which soon dies. Then the bodies of dead worms, as well as their decay products, are removed from the gastrointestinal tract.
After taking Prazitel, the active components quickly penetrate into the blood mainly through the intestinal walls. They are evenly distributed throughout the body, where they exert their effect. Their level reaches a maximum after 3 hours. Praziquantel metabolites are mainly excreted through the kidneys, and pyrantel through the intestines.
Important! Prazitel is a moderately dangerous drug (hazard class 3). When used in therapeutic doses it does not provoke negative reactions.
Side effects and contraindications
No side effects were identified when taking Prazitel. But the possibility of individual intolerance exists. This is accompanied by:
- increased salivation;
- vomiting;
- bowel dysfunction.

Prazitel tablets are greenish-yellow in color. On one side there is a risk tablet, on the other there is the “PR” logo. Storage conditions for anthelmintics
Prazitel in any form of release must be stored under the following conditions:
- in sealed manufacturer's packaging;
- in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight;
- separately from food and feed;
- at temperatures from 0°C to 25°C;
- in places inaccessible to children;
- The shelf life of the suspension is 2 years from the date of production, tablets are 3 years from the date of production.
